Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers

Betts (illness) was scheduled to face live pitching on March 26. Manager Dave Roberts has said "he'll be ready for the home opener" on March 27 against the Tigers.

Ohtani (recovery from right elbow surgery) will throw a bullpen session on March 29, his first since Feb. 25.

Shane McClanahan and Richie Palacios, Rays

McClanahan, who left his March 22 start with left triceps tightness, was diagnosed with nerve irritation and was placed on the 15-day injured list on March 26, retroactive to March 24.

Palacios suffered a small fracture in the tip of his right ring finger in mid-March while completing drills. He hoped to be ready for Opening Day but was placed on the IL on March 26, retroactive to March 24.

Gunnar Henderson, Grayson Rodriguez and Jorge Mateo, Orioles

Henderson (mild right intercostal strain) will begin the season on the injured list, general manager Mike Elias said on March 23. The O's are hoping that it will be a short IL stint.

Rodriguez, who will start the season on the IL due to right elbow inflammation, received a cortisone shot. He is now routinely playing catch from 75 feet.

Mateo (left UCL reconstruction surgery), who has not been ruled out for the Opening Day roster, stayed in Sarasota, Fla., to get additional live at-bats after camp broke March 23.

Jared Jones, Pirates

Jones (right elbow discomfort) has no torn ligaments in his elbow and will not require surgery, sources told MLB.com. He will instead go six weeks without throwing.

Ranger Suárez and Matt Strahm, Phillies

Suárez (sore back) will begin the season on the IL. The left-hander will be eligible to be activated as early as April 8, but he will need more time than that, president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said on March 24.

Strahm (left shoulder soreness) struck out three in a scoreless inning on March 22 at Carpenter Complex. It was his first game action since March 5. A left middle fingernail issue prevented him from making his scheduled appearance on March 24, but he is still expected to be ready for Opening Day.

Vinnie Pasquantino, Alec Marsh, James McArthur and Kyle Wright, Royals

Pasquantino's readiness for Opening Day is still unclear after he suffered a Grade 1-plus right hamstring strain on March 22, but he’s doing everything he can to ensure he’s in the lineup on March 27.

Marsh (right shoulder soreness) will begin the regular season on the IL. He threw in his first Minor League game March 19 and will continue his buildup in Arizona.

McArthur (right elbow surgery) will begin the regular season on the IL and will continue his rehab from an offseason elbow procedure in Kansas City.

Wright, who missed the entire 2024 season rehabbing from right shoulder surgery, threw his first live batting practice session on March 20.

Jordan Montgomery, Kevin Ginkel and Kendall Graveman, D-backs

Montgomery said on March 25 that he will undergo Tommy John surgery next week, ending his 2025 season.

Ginkel will start the season on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation, but manager Torey Lovullo said he does not expect Ginkel to miss much more than the required 15 days of his IL stint.

Graveman (back tightness) will throw a bullpen on April 1 and will be re-evaluated then.

Corey Seager and Josh Jung, Rangers

Seager sat out the Rangers' March 24 exhibition against the Royals with a sore calf, but the team does not think the issue is serious.

Manager Bruce Bochy said Jung was scratched from the lineup for the Rangers' March 25 exhibition because of a nagging stiff neck, but the team doesn't consider the issue serious.

Sean Murphy, Braves

Murphy (cracked left rib) has been cleared to resume some baseball activities and is taking dry swings.

Clarke Schmidt, Ian Hamilton, Giancarlo Stanton and DJ LeMahieu, Yankees

Schmidt was placed on the 15-day injured list March 26, retroactive to March 24, with right rotator cuff tendonitis. He has also been dealing with back stiffness, GM Brian Cashman said.

Hamilton was placed on the 15-day IL on March 26, retroactive to March 24, with a viral illness.

Stanton was placed on the 10-day IL on March 26, retroactive to March 24, with right and left elbow epicondylitis. He has still not resumed baseball activities as of March 22 and said March 8 that his tendon injuries are considered “severe in both elbows." Stanton received a third round of PRP injections on March 10. He's also dealing with a minor calf issue.

LeMahieu was placed on the 10-day IL on March 26, retroactive to March 24, with a left calf strain.

Austin Hays, Tyler Stephenson, Alexis Díaz and Spencer Steer, Reds

Hays (left calf strain) will open the season on the injured list, manager Terry Francona said March 26.

Stephenson (left oblique strain) started rotational exercises on March 21 after seeing a doctor. His second MRI was scheduled for March 26.

Francona said March 23 that Díaz will start the season on the injured list as the reliever deals with the effects of a left hamstring injury sustained during pitcher’s fielding practice earlier in camp.

Steer (right shoulder soreness) will open the season on the IL, Francona said on March 22. Steer began hitting in a Minor League game on March 20 and took more swings against Reds reliever Scott Barlow during live batting practice on March 21.

George Kirby, Mariners

Kirby was shut down from throwing on March 7 due to right shoulder inflammation and will begin the season on the injured list. He played catch for roughly 20 throws at 60 feet on March 21.

Yoán Moncada and Zach Neto, Angels

Manager Ron Washington said Moncada (right thumb soreness) "passed all the tests and checked all the boxes" and is "ready to go" for Opening Day.

Washington said March 23 that Neto (right shoulder surgery) is throwing “with no problem" but is "not ready" for game action. There is "no date" for his return.

Paul Blackburn, Frankie Montas and Francisco Alvarez, Mets

Blackburn will begin the season on the injured list with right knee inflammation.

Montas (high-grade right lat strain) is still not throwing, although a follow-up MRI in late March showed good progress. He will need a full, Spring Training-style buildup once he's recovered.

Alvarez (fractured left hamate bone) had his stitches removed on March 24, and if all goes well, he could return to the Mets in late April.

Luis Garcia, Christian Walker, Lance McCullers Jr. and Kaleb Ort, Astros

Garcia (Tommy John surgery) will seek a second opinion about the right elbow soreness that scratched him from a live batting practice session on March 20.

Walker (sore left oblique) took seven at-bats in a Minor League game on March 25 and is expected to be in the Opening Day lineup.

McCullers (right flexor tendon surgery) threw 1 2/3 innings and 33 pitches in a Minor League game on March 24. He is on track to make his next start with Triple-A Sugar Land.

Ort (left oblique) will throw live batting practice on March 27.

Edward Cabrera, Declan Cronin, Connor Norby and Ryan Weathers, Marlins

Cabrera (right middle finger blister) threw three innings of a simulated game on March 26. He will begin the season on the injured list, with the expectation of missing the first two turns through the rotation.

Cronin will begin the season on the IL with left hip discomfort and is expected to miss at least a month.

The Marlins announced on March 25 that Norby will open the season on the IL after he was diagnosed with a Grade 1 left oblique strain.

Weathers is expected to miss four to six weeks after being diagnosed with a left forearm strain on March 20.

Zack Gelof, Athletics

Gelof was scheduled to undergo surgery on March 24 to address a hook of the hamate fracture of his right hand and will be sidelined through at least the first month of the season.

Triston Casas, Lucas Giolito, Masataka Yoshida and Brayan Bello, Red Sox

Casas (right hand soreness) was feeling better March 25 and should be in the lineup on Opening Day, manager Alex Cora said. Casas barehanded a well-struck ball on March 24 in Monterrey, Mexico, and was out of the lineup on March 25.

Giolito will begin the season on the injured list with a low-grade left hamstring strain. Giolito pitched two innings at the Red Sox complex on March 23 and should only miss two to three starts at the beginning of the regular season.

Yoshida (right shoulder labrum tear) continues to DH in Grapefruit League games, but he is only throwing at 100 feet as of March 22, Cora said. He will continue to get regular at-bats in Fort Myers after the team breaks camp and then will join Triple-A Worcester for a rehab assignment around April 1.

Bello (right shoulder inflammation) started a Minor League game on March 22 and will pitch again March 27. He will miss two to three turns in the rotation at the start of the season as he continues to build his pitch count.

Parker Meadows, Wenceel Pérez, Matt Vierling and Alex Cobb, Tigers

Meadows (right upper arm nerve discomfort) was placed on the 60-day injured list on March 24. He will refrain from throwing for four weeks after undergoing a nerve conduction test, but he has begun daily conditioning, defensive drills and rehab.

Pérez (back inflammation) is scheduled to receive the first of two cortisone injections on March 28 and is expected to miss at least a month.

Vierling (right rotator cuff muscle strain) began a hitting progression the week of March 17 and was cleared to advance his shoulder strengthening program after a three-week checkup exam.

Cobb (right hip inflammation) was scheduled to throw his fourth bullpen session of the spring on March 26.

Max Scherzer, Daulton Varsho and Alek Manoah, Blue Jays

Scherzer (right thumb soreness) threw four scoreless innings on 62 pitches on March 22 in Fort Myers and reported feeling good the following day.

Manager John Schneider announced on March 22 that Varsho (right shoulder surgery) will start the season on the injured list. Varsho continues to ramp up his throwing and is targeting a return to the big leagues at some point in April.

Manoah threw off a mound on March 15 for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last June. He threw off a mound again on March 22.

Yu Darvish, Matt Waldron and Jhony Brito, Padres

Darvish (right elbow inflammation) played light catch at Petco Park during the Padres' workout day on March 26.

Waldron will be out through Opening Day after he suffered a left oblique strain while warming up in the bullpen on March 14. As of March 21, he had yet to resume throwing.

Brito had right elbow soreness and diminished velocity in his final spring appearance and has since backed off of throwing.

Brooks Lee, Brock Stewart and Royce Lewis, Twins

Lee (lower back strain) and Stewart (left hamstring strain) said on March 23 that they will begin the regular season on the IL.

Lewis (left hamstring) will miss Opening Day after an MRI revealed a moderate strain. He exited the Twins' game on March 16 after pulling up lame while running to first base in the second inning.

Jerar Encarnacion, Giants

Encarnacion will miss an extended period of the regular season with a hairline fracture in his left hand and is scheduled to undergo surgery the week of March 24.

Tyson Miller, Vidal Bruján, Javier Assad and Nico Hoerner, Cubs

Miller (left hip impingement) was placed on the 15-day injured list on March 25, retroactive to March 21.

Bruján (right elbow contusion) is being evaluated after running into the Sloan Park wall on a catch attempt on March 22.

Assad (mild left oblique strain) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session on March 22 and is due to face hitters in live batting practice next. He will start the season on the 15-day IL.

Hoerner (right flexor tendon surgery) made his Cactus League debut on March 21 and is expected to be ready for the Cubs' domestic opener on March 27.

Austin Gomber and Thairo Estrada, Rockies

Gomber (left shoulder soreness) is scheduled to start for Triple-A Albuquerque on March 28 and April 3 and will be eligible to return from the 15-day injured list on April 8.

Estrada suffered a non-displaced fracture in his right wrist and will miss “anywhere from 4-8 weeks,” manager Bud Black said March 21.

Brice Turang, Blake Perkins, Nick Mears, Tobias Myers and Brandon Woodruff, Brewers

Turang (right arm fatigue) underwent testing after reporting discomfort in his throwing arm. An MRI showed no structural damage and he is expected to be ready for Opening Day, although he may be limited to second base duties.

Perkins (right shin fracture) was scheduled to stay behind in Arizona when the Brewers broke camp because his recovery was taking longer than expected, as of a March 23 update.

Mears will begin the season on the IL as he continues to recover from an illness. He expected to throw two simulated games in Arizona after the Brewers depart Spring Training, followed by 2-3 games with Triple-A Nashville.

Myers (left oblique strain) will begin the season on the injured list. He was expected to be back on the mound for a bullpen session on March 25 and is targeting a return sometime in mid-April.

Woodruff (right shoulder surgery) started against the Guardians on March 16. He will join the Brewers in New York for Opening Day, then throw a simulated game in Milwaukee before resuming rehab in Arizona.

Mike Tauchman, Drew Thorpe and Josh Rojas, White Sox

Tauchman (right hamstring strain) could be ready for the start of the season, but general manager Chris Getz said the team might follow a more conservative route.

Thorpe will undergo Tommy John surgery in the near future, the White Sox announced on March 22.

Rojas (hairline fracture in right big toe) will likely begin the season on the IL.
