Athletics unveil throwback gold uniform to launch new era

MESA, Ariz. -- The new era of Athletics baseball in West Sacramento will bring a throwback to the A’s of yesteryear.

The A's enlisted the help of slugger to reveal that the team is officially bringing back gold jerseys into its uniform rotation after a six-year hiatus, providing a second alternate uniform along with the kelly green jerseys to accompany the traditional home whites and road grays.

The A’s rocked golds uniforms from 2011-18, providing a bit of nostalgia as somewhat of an homage to the jerseys worn by the legendary ‘Swingin’ A’s’ teams of the 1970s. Once labeled as having the color appearance of a ‘canary’ by former general manager and current senior advisor Billy Beane, the jerseys differ from the other three current uniforms in that they feature a green ‘A’s’ chest insignia in addition to green names and numbers on the back. The new tops also include a slight variation of the piping on the sleeves from their previous iteration.

The A’s plan to utilize the new gold jerseys frequently throughout the 2025 campaign, which will be their inaugural season at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento. The team plans to call Sacramento home for at least the next three seasons before a planned move to Las Vegas in 2028. The June 8 giveaway of a Rooker bobblehead atop a home run counter also features the slugger wearing the new gold jersey.
