Justin Steele, Cubs

Steele was placed on the 15-day injured list on April 9 with left elbow tendinitis and will undergo an MRI on April 10. He last pitched on April 7, tossing seven shutout innings against the Rangers.

Wyatt Langford, Rangers

Langford was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain on April 9. He left the Rangers' April 8 game in the seventh inning after feeling something in his side on a swing.

Jackson Merrill, Fernando Tatis Jr., Jake Cronenworth and Joe Musgrove, Padres

Merrill was placed on the 10-day injured list on April 8, retroactive to April 7, with a right hamstring strain.

Tatis aggravated his surgically repaired left shoulder while swinging on April 8. But he has recovered well, per manager Mike Shildt, and expects to avoid a stint on the injured list.

Cronenworth took a fastball to the ribs on April 6, then dealt with cramps related to that injury, which forced his exit from the Padres' game against the A's two days later. He is expected to be back in the lineup on April 11.

Musgrove (Tommy John surgery recovery) played catch from 60 feet on April 7 and will continue doing so for the time being.

Freddie Freeman, Tony Gonsolin, Blake Snell and Clayton Kershaw, Dodgers

Freeman (right ankle sprain) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list and back in the Dodgers' lineup vs. the Cubs on April 11.

Gonsolin (back tightness) pitched 1 2/3 innings in his first rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on April 3 and is tentatively scheduled to stretch out to three innings on April 9.

Snell (left shoulder inflammation), who was placed on the 15-day IL on April 6 after soreness prevented him from completing a bullpen session, will be shut down from throwing until April 14. No medical intervention is planned beyond rest.

Kershaw (left toe/left knee surgery) is facing hitters but reports his arm being ahead of his foot in terms of his recovery process.

Victor Robles and Ryan Bliss, Mariners

The results of an MRI taken on Robles' left shoulder revealed that a dislocation caused by his acrobatic catch in San Francisco on April 6 led to a small fracture in his shoulder, the club announced on April 8. If Robles can recover without surgery, the fracture is expected to heal in about six weeks, at which point he would need a rehab schedule of about six more weeks.

Bliss suffered a right biceps tear on a swing during an April 8 game vs. Houston and is awaiting imaging results to determine the injury's severity.

Yoán Moncada, Angels

After missing the past three games with right thumb soreness, Moncada aggravated his existing thumb injury during an at-bat on April 9. He will be re-evaluated.

Jeff McNeil, Francisco Alvarez, Sean Manaea and David Peterson, Mets

McNeil (right oblique strain) and Alvarez (fractured left hamate bone) are both scheduled to begin Minor League rehab assignments this week, according to manager Carlos Mendoza on April 8. Alvarez will begin his rehab assignment with Single-A St. Lucie on April 9. McNeil will enter an extended spring training progression for a few days, before beginning his own rehab assignment later this weekend.

Manaea (right oblique strain) suffered a setback in his rehab and has yet to resume throwing as of April 8.

Peterson left his start on April 6 against the Blue Jays in the fifth inning after experiencing nausea and blurred vision. He's scheduled to make his next start on April 12.

Connor Wong, Lucas Giolito, Liam Hendriks and Masataka Yoshida, Red Sox

Wong (left pinkie fracture) was placed on the 10-day IL on April 8.

Hendriks (right elbow inflammation) will start a Minor League rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on April 10.

Yoshida (right shoulder labrum tear/sore back) is throwing at 80 percent intensity and continuing to take swings. Manager Alex Cora said he will start a Minor League rehab assignment once he is throwing at 100 percent and ready to play defense.

Spencer Arrighetti, Astros

Arrighetti was struck by a ball during batting practice on April 7 and suffered a right thumb fracture. He won't require surgery, but will be in a cast for at least two weeks and undergo imaging after that to determine timeline and next steps.

Reynaldo López, Braves

López underwent a clean-up procedure on his injured right shoulder on April 8. He had no structural damage. He'll be shut down from throwing for 12 weeks before being re-evaluated.

Lane Thomas, Guardians

Thomas is day to day after suffering a right wrist contusion when he was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning April 8 against the White Sox. Thomas was not in the April 9 starting lineup but was potentially available off the bench.

Zach Eflin, Grayson Rodriguez and Albert Suárez, Orioles

Eflin has a low-grade lat strain and will be shut down from throwing for a week, Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said April 8. He was placed on the injured list on April 9.

Rodriguez (right elbow inflammation) was slated for a bullpen session on April 7.

Suárez was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 7 after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 right subscapularis strain and is expected to be sidelined for at least a few months.

Mark Canha, Alec Marsh and Kyle Wright, Royals

Canha left the Royals' April 8 game against the Twins in the sixth inning with left hip soreness, an inning after an awkward tumble in left field while attempting to catch a fly ball at the warning track. He was placed on the 10-day IL on April 9 with a left abductor strain.

Marsh (right shoulder soreness) suffered a minor setback on April 3 and has been shut down for 10 days, with plans for re-evaluation April 14.

Wright (mild right hamstring strain/right shoulder) is scheduled for his first game in extended spring training in Arizona on April 10.

Giancarlo Stanton, Clarke Schmidt and DJ LeMahieu, Yankees

Stanton (torn tendons in both elbows) has been hitting off a high-velocity Trajekt machine and is “feeling significantly better.”

Schmidt (right shoulder fatigue) began a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on April 5, striking out seven in an impressive start. He's scheduled for one more rehab start before re-joining the Yankees.

LeMahieu (left calf strain) said on April 8 that he expects to begin a rehab assignment this weekend.

Iván Herrera, Cardinals

Herrera is expected to miss about four weeks with a bone bruise on his left knee.

Ranger Suárez, Phillies

Suárez (lower back stiffness) is scheduled to pitch three innings April 10 with Single-A Clearwater in his first rehab start.

Daulton Varsho and Max Scherzer, Blue Jays

Varsho (right rotator cuff surgery) will begin throwing from the outfield to bases later in the week of April 8, which is a critical step, and remains on track to return later in April.

Scherzer (right thumb inflammation) resumed throwing on April 7 and is still feeling some "lingering tightness" in his thumb but said that is purely related to the cortisone shot he recently received.

Matt McLain, Tyler Stephenson, Alexis Díaz, Andrew Abbott and Austin Hays, Reds

McLain (left hamstring tightness) was placed on the 10-day injured list on April 8 after being out of the lineup for four straight days.

Stephenson (left oblique strain) received good news from an MRI on April 7 and is expected to resume baseball activities.

Hays (left calf strain) will report to Triple-A Louisville and potentially begin a rehab assignment on April 10.

Kendall Graveman and Kevin Ginkel, D-backs

Graveman (back tightness) and Ginkel (right shoulder inflammation) were scheduled to throw bullpens on April 8.

Brandon Woodruff, Tobias Myers and Nestor Cortes, Brewers

Woodruff (right shoulder surgery) threw a simulated game on April 7, with another slated for April 9. He will need at least one more after that before a rehab assignment, according to Brewers manager Pat Murphy.

Myers (left oblique discomfort) tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings (45 pitches) in a rehab start with Triple-A Nashville on April 8. He will pitch two more games on April 13 and April 18 before possibly joining Milwaukee.

Cortes was placed on the 15-day IL with a left elbow flexor strain on April 6, retroactive to April 4. He received a PRP injection and will not begin a throwing program until he is pain free.

Mike Tauchman, Andrew Benintendi and Korey Lee, White Sox

Tauchman felt right hamstring tightness while rounding third base as the potential game-tying run in the ninth inning on April 9. He'll undergo further evaluation.

Benintendi was placed on the injured list with a left adductor strain on April 9, retroactive to April 7.

Lee twisted his ankle rushing back to the base on a pickoff attempt on April 9. He rolled on the ground in pain before being helped off the field by the training staff.

Jake Rogers, Manuel Margot, Gleyber Torres, Matt Vierling and Alex Cobb, Tigers

Rogers (left oblique tightness) and Margot (left knee inflammation) were placed on the 10-day injured list on April 8.

Torres (left oblique strain) will continue a hitting progression this week, including facing high-velocity pitches from a machine. He could potentially return without a rehab assignment.

Vierling (right rotator cuff muscle strain) has been cleared to begin a return-to-play throwing program as of April 8.

Cobb (right hip inflammation) threw a bullpen session on April 5 and another on April 8. He's set to return to the Tigers' Spring Training facility in Lakeland, Fla., to begin facing hitters.

Edward Cabrera, Connor Norby and Jesús Sánchez, Marlins
