Five days after the World Series ends, the Giants will be faced with a major bit of housekeeping.

The injury-riddled club finished the regular season with a whopping 17 players on the 60-day injured list, meaning it’ll soon have to figure out how to add most of those names back onto its 40-man roster, which is currently full.

As of now, the Giants have only one player -- JT Brubaker -- who is set to hit free agency after the World Series ends. That leaves 56 players for the club to sort through before the reinstatement deadline arrives.

Here’s a look at where San Francisco’s roster stands ahead of the looming 40-man crunch:

Landen Roupp

Starting pitchers

Locks (12): Logan Webb, Landen Roupp, Adrian Houser (60-day IL), Hayden Birdsong (60-day IL), Blade Tidwell (60-day IL), Trevor McDonald (60-day IL), Carson Whisenhunt (60-day IL), Matt Wilkinson, Yunior Marte, Anthony Molina, Cesar Perdomo, Miguel Mendez

On the bubble (2): Duncan Davitt, Seth Lonsway

The Giants’ starting pitching depth was decimated after Robbie Ray and Tyler Mahle were dealt at the 2026 Trade Deadline and Birdsong, Tidwell, McDonald and Whisenhunt each went down with Tommy John surgery. They’ll need to preserve as many rotation options as possible heading into ‘27, though Davitt (9.00 ERA) and Lonsway (7.71 ERA) are likely in danger of being cut since both stumbled in their limited big league appearances with the Giants this year.

Relievers

Locks (8): Camilo Doval, Randy Rodríguez (60-day IL), Jason Foley, Sam Hentges, Keaton Winn (60-day IL), Dylan Smith, Carson Seymour, Trent Harris

On the bubble (9): Rowan Wick (60-day IL), José Buttó (60-day IL), Ryan Walker, Matt Gage (60-day IL), Joel Peguero (60-day IL), Tristan Beck, Reiver Sanmartín, Braxton Roxby, Joel Kuhnel

The Giants will have some interesting calls to make regarding many of their relievers. Doval, Foley, Hentges, Walker and Buttó will be eligible for arbitration this offseason, though the latter two could be non-tender candidates since Walker struggled to a 7.16 ERA this year and Buttó missed almost the entire season after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot from his right arm.

Another decision will have to be made regarding Wick, who signed a one-year deal with an $800,000 club option for 2027 in February. Wick sat out the 2026 campaign while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, but he logged a 1.75 ERA over two seasons with the Yokohama Bay Stars of Nippon Professional Baseball from 2024-25. The Giants have also said they plan to focus on beefing up their bullpen this offseason, which might not bode well for other incumbents like Gage, Peguero, Beck and Sanmartín.

Daniel Susac

Catchers

Locks (3): Daniel Susac (60-day IL), Drew Cavanaugh, Jesus Rodriguez (60-day IL)

On the bubble (2): Andrew Knizner, Zach Morgan

A fractured left patella ended Susac’s season in August, but he should enter next year as the Giants’ top catching option, especially after making some impressive strides with his defense. Cavanaugh is projected to be the main backup, though the versatile Rodriguez could keep getting some looks behind the plate, as well. Knizner is eligible for arbitration, but he was non-tendered last offseason and could be in line for a similar fate this winter. Morgan spent time on the Giants’ active roster but never made his Major League debut this year, a huge bummer for the Stockton, Calif., native.

Infielders

Locks (7): Rafael Devers (60-day IL), Bryce Eldridge, Willy Adames, Matt Chapman (60-day IL), Casey Schmitt (60-day IL), Marcelo Mayer, Christian Koss

On the bubble (4): Osleivis Basabe, Nate Furman, Brett Harris, Shay Whitcomb

Not much turnover is expected on the dirt, where Devers, Eldridge, Adames and Chapman are expected to remain key pieces for the long haul. Schmitt is coming off a career year and could shift between second base and the corner outfield depending on the Giants’ roster needs. Mayer and Koss will also require reps, likely edging out other depth pieces like Basabe and Whitcomb.

Jung Hoo Lee

Outfielders

Locks (7): Jung Hoo Lee, Drew Gilbert, Jonah Cox, Victor Bericoto, Bo Davidson, Scott Bandura, Turner Hill

On the bubble (2): Harrison Bader (60-day IL), Grant McCray

The big question mark here is Bader, whose pay was suspended after he further injured his left foot in a late-night scooter accident in July. Bader is technically signed through next year, but it remains to be seen if he’ll remain in the outfield picture since the incident is still being investigated by the Giants. Gilbert and Cox could serve as platoon partners in center field if Bader’s services aren’t retained, with Lee likely settling back into his post in right field. That would leave the other corner spot open for the likes of Bericoto, Davidson, Bandura and Hill.
